You probably already know that clogged arteries can lead to a heart attack and death. But slightly clogged arteries, the ones that haven’t caused a heart attack yet, can still lead to significant problems. They greatly reduce blood flow, which means you’re not getting enough oxygen to the tissues in your body. And a low-oxygen environment can lead to cancer, Parkinson’s disease, and other serious health problems.
I’ve shown you in past issues how curcumin can help you avoid a heart attack even if you’ve had bypass surgery (which significantly increases your risk of having an attack). But there’s something you can take with curcumin to almost eliminate your risk of having a heart attack. In fact, one doctor friend told me he’s never seen any of his patients taking this combination have a heart attack.
The cause of clogged arteries is the accumulation of fibrin in your blood. Fibrin is what helps your blood clot so you don’t bleed to death. But when it gathers inside your arteries, it can cause a clot that shuts off blood flow. This can lead to a heart attack, stroke, or other potentially fatal problems. So the key to keeping your arteries free and your blood flowing is to keep the fibrin from collecting on the walls of your arteries. And a new study shows how you can do just that.
In this study, researchers from China wanted to find out if an enzyme from an earthworm could reduce the blood aggregation that leads to clogged arteries. I know, an enzyme from an earthworm doesn’t sound very appetizing. But it’s effectiveness in cleaning out your arteries may change your mind.
The researchers took 60 individuals with confirmed plaque in their carotid artery and gave each group aspirin and a statin. But one group they also gave the enzyme lumbrokinase. They measured several heart-health factors before they started the treatment and after six months on the treatment. What they found was startling.
The group taking lumbrokinase saw their level of plasminogen, which is an enzyme your body releases to break apart blood clots, cut almost in half. That sounds bad, but it’s not. It means your body didn’t need to release the enzyme because it didn’t have as many clots to break up. The lower this enzyme, the fewer clots you have. How do we know this?
Because the level of platelet aggregation was cut by 18%. Platelet aggregation is what leads to blood clots. The control group not taking lumbrokinase saw very little decline in either of these markers.

The group taking lumbrokinase also saw a decline in their triglycerides, total cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol. What’s more, their HDL (good) cholesterol went up.
This means you can significantly decrease your risk of having clogged arteries or a heart attack by taking lumbrokinase along with curcumin and other heart-healthy nutrients, including magnesium.
You can buy lumbrokinase at any health food store or on the Internet. Lumbrokinase has a better-known cousin named nattokinase. You may be familiar with natto. It has a similar action as lumbrokinase. Natto is typically less expensive, has more research behind it, and appears to be just about as effective as lumbrokinase. If there is a difference in effectiveness, it appears to be small.
If you want to try the less expensive natto, I recommend one of two ways. If you already know you’re susceptible to blood clots, then I recommend Advanced Natto Formula, as it has 100 mg of nattokinase in each capsule. If you don’t have a high risk for blood clots, then take natto (50 mg) and the other heart nutrients found in Circutol.
Many alternative doctors are combining lumbrokinase and nattokinase and finding terrific results in treating autism, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue, as well as the fabulous heart protection. So you may want to try taking both together. If you do, please let me know how they work for you.
