Did you know that breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed invasive cancer in women who live in the U.S.? It's also the second leading cause of cancer deaths in American women. That's the bad news. The good news is that six new studies show how one particular fruit extract can slow down the invasive nature of breast tumors - and decrease the death rate at the same time.

Promises of nutrients curing cancer are usually unbelievable. But I've seen them work. For instance, resveratrol has reversed many tumors - and even cured some cases. As I've mentioned in the past, resveratrol works on very specific cancers. But most nutrients work by boosting your immune system and helping your body cure the cancer. So when I first heard about these studies, I was curious about how the extract worked. It appears that this extract fights breast cancer in several different ways.

The lead researcher of these studies was Rui Hai Liu, Cornell associate professor of food science and a member of Cornell's Institute for Comparative and Environmental Toxicology. He found that an extract of apple peel is particularly effective at fighting breast cancer.

What I found interesting is that Dr. Liu didn't publish his data in the typical medical journal. Instead, he published it in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. That means most medical professionals will never hear about these studies. This is important because his findings are extremely powerful.

Not only did Dr. Liu find that apple extracts inhibit the size of mammary tumors in rats, it did so proportionally to the dose. In other words, the more apple extract the rats took, the better their outcome.

Considering Dr. Liu's study focused on a highly malignant type of breast cancer called an adenocarcinoma, this is very significant news. Adenocarcinoma is the primary cause of death in breast-cancer patients.

In one of the studies, Dr. Liu had a control group and three groups of rats that he gave low, medium, and high doses of apple peel extract. In the control group, 81% of the animals developed adenocarcinoma. But only 57%, 50%, and 23% of the rats taking the respective doses of apple peel extract developed the deadly cancer.

What's more, Dr. Liu said, "We not only observed that the treated animals had fewer tumors, but the tumors were smaller, less malignant, and grew more slowly compared with the tumors in the untreated rats." This is huge news.

The other five studies looked at other variations of dosage, effect, and mechanism of action. Dr. Liu found that apple peels have multiple compounds in them that have "potent antioxidant and anti-proliferative activities" on tumors. He also discovered that the extracts work directly on the life cycle of cancer cells. And they also prevent cancer cells from communicating with each other through an important inflammation pathway (technically known as NfkB). So it's clear the extracts work directly on the breast cancer cells and by helping your immune system fight off the cancer. That means they provide a double whammy against breast cancer.

One of the best apple peel extracts available on the market is AppleBoost. I've written a lot about it in the past and its ability to fight a number of illnesses continues to impress me. It's not just for fighting breast cancer. You can order AppleBoost by following this link.
