How Diet and Supplements Can Significantly Reduce Asthma Symptoms

Volume 6    |    Issue 90

Most cases of asthma are a respiratory response to allergens. Even some cases of exercise-induced asthma have allergies at the root. Eating the right diet and taking the right supplements can help reduce asthma symptoms within a few weeks.

Most cases of asthma are simply severe allergies. Even some cases of exercise-induced asthma have allergies at the root. Your body shouldn't struggle with exercise. So we know there's something going on that the exercise is triggering.

To get started, if you want to make asthma disappear, you have to change your diet. The best diet I've found for asthma is a strict paleo diet. This diet focuses on lean (preferably grass-fed) meats, green veggies, and low intake of certain fruits (berries, grapefruit, and apples). It eliminates high-allergen foods, such as wheat, processed foods, grains, dairy, and legumes. Most people will see a significant reduction in their symptoms within 30 days on this diet.

But don't stop there. Certain supplements can make a huge difference for asthma sufferers. Start with fish oil. Most people in the U.S. have their omega-6/omega-3 fatty acid ratio out of whack. Studies have shown that fish oil does more than just about any supplement for correcting this ratio and fighting asthma. I recommend Complete Daily Oils. I think it's the best oil product on the market. You can add evening primrose oil as well.

Next, a combination of vitamin C and magnesium is vital for asthma sufferers. Both of these help relax the lungs, build up their ability to handle allergens, and can help stop asthma attacks (particularly magnesium). Magnesium is one of the most important nutrients everyone needs to take daily. It's especially important for asthmatics. The dose for both of these nutrients is based on your bowel tolerance, usually 500-1,000 mg daily.

Finally, because asthma is at its core an allergy response, consider taking an allergy formula, such as Ultimate Allergy Formula. The herbs in this formula are known to support the respiratory system, boost the immune system to fight off allergens without overreaction, and help the body handle allergens more effectively. So it can really do a lot for asthma sufferers.

Most asthmatics, even severe cases, can experience significant improvement in their symptoms within 30 days by following this plan. Many will see their asthma disappear completely.
