A Common Heart Condition Causes Sudden Death – Here’s How to Prevent It

You’ve probably heard of a sports star collapsing and dying. It’s always a shocking event. I’ll never forget watching Hank Gathers crumble to the floor during a college basketball game in 1990. It was a tragic end to a great ballplayer’s life. I also heard about a woman who went for a jog, came home, took a shower, collapsed, and died.

It happens all too often. What’s stunning is that it can happen to people who are in great shape, as well as people who aren’t. The suspected cause of many of these sudden deaths is a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or HCM.

HCM causes thickening of the heart muscle. This thickening results in defects in the heart’s electrical system. While HCM can result in sudden death, other patients may go undiagnosed, with their heart function declining gradually over decades.

In order to treat HCM, you have to prevent the thickening of the muscle and, at the same time, protect the signaling process that allows the heart’s electrical system to function.

How to Stop Heart Tissue From Thickening

We know that the linings of the arteries become thick when deposits of fat, cholesterol, fibrin (a clotting material), cellular debris, and calcium accumulate. The same can be true in the heart muscle. And it can happen to anyone. So you have to make sure you’re taking care of your heart with good nutrition. There are some nutrients that specifically promote a healthy heart. These include fish oil, magnesium, potassium, and nitric oxide.

However, when it comes to removing debris that can lead to thickened tissue, there’s nothing better than chelation therapy. This doctor administered treatment can remove heavy metals (which are a major cause of thickened tissue), fats, and other problem debris. Having the treatment done once every 6-12 months can protect your heart like nothing else can.

The most common form of chelation therapy is an IV given by your doctor. But there are also suppositories that work well. These are the next best form of chelation therapy. They don’t require a doctor’s visit, so they’re less expensive. And you can apply in the privacy of your own home. Detoxamin is the most proven brand available.

What I love about chelation therapy is that it can help just about every heart work better – even those with a genetic predisposition to HCM.

Keep the Signals Moving

Next, you have to keep the signals moving through your heart. There’s a reason defibrillators work. They reboot the electrical system in your heart. Of course, no one ever wants to get to a point where you need your heart’s electrical system rebooted. So you have to do everything you can to keep those signals moving through your heart tissue.

My favorite nutrients for doing this are magnesium and potassium. Both of these minerals work directly on the signal handed from one cell to the next. With enough of these nutrients, your cells can communicate effectively and without disruption.

I’ve had heart patients who were experiencing arrhythmia stop the irregular heartbeats simply by taking these nutrients. Now, they don’t work in every case. But they can be miracle workers.

When Magnesium and Potassium Don’t Work

There are some tough cases of heart arrhythmia and other heart issues that don’t respond as well to mineral supplementation. Of course, the minerals can still help keep the heart healthy. But what should you do when they fail to correct the problem?

Fortunately, there’s a two-pronged approach that can help. This consists of using CBD oil both orally and topically.

CBD, as you may know, is cannabidiol. Most people consider CBD to be medical marijuana. But most CBD comes from hemp, not marijuana. And it doesn’t give you the mind-altering issues that THC (the other chemical from marijuana) does.

CBD is rapidly becoming one of my favorite heart treatments. That’s because CBD works directly on your endocannabinoid system. This is the system that sends chemical messages between nerve cells (neurons) throughout the nervous system. These messages allow your tissues and organs (including your brain) to function. They help your nerves send messages that help you feel pleasure, think and concentrate. Plus they allow your brain to communicate with your body to move and to stimulate your immune response, appetite, and metabolism. And anything else where these messages are important.

At this point, you’re probably starting to see how CBD can be so important for your heart. In order for CBD to work, it needs somewhere to go. Once you take CBD orally, your body’s cannabinoid receptors use it to enable signals to move from one cell to another. There are two cannabinoid receptors that we know of today. These are CB1 and CB2. The CB1 receptors control the neurological system, while the CB2 receptors work for your immune system.

But CBD does a lot more than just clear the way for these signals. It also can increase the body’s ability to send these signals. The cannabinoids in CBD actually work with the body to build up and actually cause an increase in cannabinoid receptors. This makes the endocannabinoid system more active and more sensitive to stimulation by cannabinoids.

CBD’s Heart Benefits

We’re finding that this trait makes CBD extremely beneficial to your heart health. We’re seeing it lower blood pressure, reduce arrhythmias, and reduce inflammation. When doctors give CBD for other ailments, they notice something – their blood pressure drops. No one was sure until there was some research done on it. Now we have the research – and it’s very impressive.

In fact, one study found that just one dose of CBD causes blood pressure to drop!

In the study, the researchers said their “data shows that acute administration of CBD reduces resting blood pressure and the blood pressure increase to stress in humans, associated with increased heart rate.” In other words, even white coat hypertension comes down with CBD. That’s the type of blood pressure that increases when your heart rate goes up due to stressful situations (like visiting your doctor).

The study was a randomized cross-over study of healthy patients. The researchers found that a single dose of CBD helped lower blood pressure. In the study, the researchers gave nine healthy males either a placebo or CBD. They found that those who took the CBD reduced resting systolic pressure, reduced stroke volume, and reduced blood pressure after cold exposure.

All that from one single dose!

So why does CBD lower your blood pressure? CBD is a vasodilator, meaning that it widens the blood vessels allowing for more blood flow. This, in turn, reduces the damage that’s done to arterial walls from high blood pressure.

CBD for Arrhythmias

While there hasn’t been a lot of study on CBD and heart arrhythmia, we do know that CBD can exert a tissue sparing effect during chronic myocardial ischaemia and reperfusion. However, we didn’t know if it was cardioprotective in the acute phase of arrhythmia. One study on rats wanted to test to see if does protect your heart tissue.

In the study, the researchers gave male Sprague-Dawley rats CBD either 10 minutes before a 30-minute coronary artery occlusion (partial or complete obstruction of blood flow in a coronary artery – can cause a heart attack) or CBD 10 minutes before restoring the blood flow.

The researchers found that the “CBD reduced both the total number of ischaemia-induced arrhythmias and infarct size when administered prior to ischaemia.” This effect was dose-dependent, so the more they took, the better the effect. The CBD also reduced the size of the infarct when they gave the CBD prior to restoring the blood flow.

The researchers concluded: “This study demonstrates that CBD is cardioprotective in the acute phase of ischemia and reperfusion by both reducing ventricular arrhythmias and attenuating infarct size. The anti-arrhythmic effect, but not the tissue sparing effect, may be mediated through an inhibitory effect on platelet activation.”

That’s a complicated way to say CBD can spare your heart tissue and reduce the arrhythmia. That’s big news! And one that could protect you against a heart attack that leads to sudden death.

CBD and Heart Inflammation

But that’s not all CBD can do. It also can reduce the inflammation in your heart that leads to heart disease. This could be one of the biggest benefits of CBD and its ability to prevent sudden death from a heart attack. Inflammation of the heart, or myocarditis, can cause the cells in your heart to become damaged and even die. This can lead to a buildup of heart tissue and cause HCM. If the inflammation goes without treatment, it can result in death.

CBD is well known for its ability to reduce harmful inflammation. But more importantly, CBD reduces the number of cells that die in the heart during inflammation, helping your heart muscle hold onto its strength – and preventing HCM.

Why Topical CBD Helps Your Heart

The case for taking CBD orally for your heart is clear. But what about topically? Why should you use CBD on your skin to help protect your heart?

There aren’t any studies on taking CBD topically to benefit your heart. In fact, there is reason to believe that CBD applied topically will never even reach your bloodstream. But the main reason for using CBD is to have it restore signaling in the endocannabinoid system. And this is where CBD applied topically can help. There are many cannabinoid receptors on the skin’s sensory nerve fibers and subcutaneous tissue. So applying CBD to the skin encourages the endocannabinoid system and helps the body stay balanced and function at its best.

When you take CBD orally, some of it is destroyed by stomach acid. Not all of it, as we know CBD taken orally works. When you apply a CBD gel to your skin, it does a number of things. First, it goes directly into those cannabinoid receptors and helps to increase the signaling in your cells. While this affects the area around the application (making it ideal for joint and muscle pain), it does boost the signaling throughout your body.

Human skin in general has low permeability for cannabinoids, so application of CBD balms, salves, and lotions need to be heavy enough to overcome this barrier. When you apply CBD gels liberally, it’s able to penetrate your skin through its pores.

As an added bones, applying CBD topically to your muscles and joints will make them feel better, encouraging your ability to exercise. This, of course, is good for your heart as well.

You can find CBD just about anywhere on the internet. But my favorite brand is Full Spectrum Hemp. And right now you can order both an oral CBD as well as a CBD gel in a cost saving bundle. If you follow this link, you’ll also receive 10% off your entire order.
