I've told you in the past about the amazing ability of apple skin extract to stop colon and breast cancer. The apple peel is full of antioxidants that work wonders in the battle against cancer. And now research shows that these antioxidants work against skin cancer.
In this new study, researchers started with the knowledge that apples inhibit skin cancer cells from spreading. They knew this from previous studies on topical apple peel creams. But they wanted to know if an oral extract would have a similar impact.
Not only did they find similar results, but they found that the extract also decreased the number of both nonmalignant and malignant skin tumors in their mouse study. They found that the "apple extract strongly scavenged hydroxyl and superoxide radicals." That's what antioxidants do best - scavenge free radicals.
The researchers found that taking the extract prior to ultraviolet B irradiation stopped the tumor cells from developing. And it killed already formed tumor cells. What's more, the researchers also found that the extract kept cancer cells from communicating with each other - a factor that encourages their ability to spread. This is the first study to show that apple peel extract can stop this cell signaling.
So if you're looking to stop cancer, particularly breast, colon, and skin cancers, it's vital you eat plenty of apples and take an apple peel extract. Your body needs the fiber from the fresh apples. But they aren't likely to provide enough antioxidants to fight cancer.
I recommend the apple peel extract found AppleBoost. I've written a lot about this product in past issues of Nutrient Insider. This form of apple peel extract not only fights cancer, but it also increases muscle strength, lowers blood pressure, and helps lung diseases like COPD.
