If you have to undergo any type of surgery, recovering from that surgery can be difficult and very painful. To help with the pain, your doctor will give you the usual prescription for pain pills. But what if there were a way to make your pain pills work even better, making it possible to use less and recover faster? Would you be interested?
Well, new research suggests you can do this simply by taking one nutrient. But what this research doesn't tell you is that you can get even better results than the researchers did. Let me explain.
In a recent study, researchers followed patients who had laparoscopic cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder) for three weeks following surgery. This form of gallbladder surgery is less invasive than normal cholecystectomy, so the pain, inflammation, and recovery times are much less. But pain medication is still necessary.
In this case, the researchers gave the participants either curcumin tablets or placebo tablets and what they called a "rescue analgesic." This is simply a pain pill they were to take if their pain became too great after taking the curcumin or the placebo. Then they asked the patients to keep a "pain/fatigue/adverse event diary based upon 100-point visual analog pain scale (VAS) and 10-point interval rating fatigue scale (IRS)." Then the researchers followed up with the patients at the third day, the first week, the second week, and the third week.
They found that all the patients had similar pain and fatigue scores after three days. But after one week, that began to change dramatically. At weeks one and two, the study group showed significantly lower pain scores (they were all pain free by week three). Their pain scores averaged around 15 (out of 100) versus 30 in those taking the placebo. And their fatigue scores were significantly lower as well. At weeks one, two, and three, their fatigue levels were 2.16, 1, and 0, respectively, versus 5.16, 4.20, and 1 in the placebo group. In other words, those taking the curcumin saw their pain and fatigue cut in half - at least!
What really caught the researchers' eyes was that those taking the placebo took over 5.5 times as many pain pills (39.32 pills) as those taking the curcumin (6.96 pills). That's 82.3% fewer pills - a huge difference!
What's amazing about this study is that the researchers used normal curcumin. As you may know, your body doesn't absorb curcumin especially well. So these results are amazing. But, as I said earlier, you can improve on these results. All you have to do is take Meriva®. This form of turmeric (the active compound in curcumin) is 29 times better absorbed than normal turmeric or curcumin. You can order Meriva in Advanced Bionutritionals Reduloxin.

Can You Restore Your Hearing by Taking Nutrients?
Most doctors don't think nutrition has anything to do with hearing loss. But several new studies show just how important nutrition is to your ears - and how some people are actually reversing their hearing loss.

After surgery, you can increase the usual daily dose of turmeric/curcumin (150 mg) up to 500 mg every six hours (2,000 mg daily) for up to three weeks. It's unlikely you'll need to take this much for that long. Take only as much as you need for pain and fatigue.
