We've known for years that one of the best ways to avoid diabetes and insulin resistance is to keep your muscles strong. You can be overweight and never get diabetes if your muscles stay strong. But researchers are finding that muscles aren't the only thing you can keep strong and fight diabetes.
One study found that osteocalcin can protect you against obesity and insulin resistance. Osteocalcin is a hormone secreted by osteoblasts, which are bone-forming cells. This hormone protects you in several ways. It increases the number of insulin-producing beta cells that your pancreas produces, it impacts insulin production, and it improves insulin sensitivity. In other words, strong, healthy bones will protect you from diabetes.
But strong healthy bones do more than just protect you from insulin problems. This study showed that your bones also play a role in energy regulation. This is the first study ever to show this. The researchers' findings reveal why some people with a high body mass index get diabetes and others with the same BMI don't.

So how can you keep your bones strong? You have to start with exercise. Exercise and "torqueing" or stressing your bones stimulates the production of osteoblasts. NASA discovered this when astronauts came back to earth with extreme bone loss. They weren't able to torque their bones in space since there wasn't any gravity. So the more weight bearing exercise you can do, the more you will stimulate these cells.
An easy way to torque your bones is to wear weights on your ankles and wrists. Weight lifting is great too. If you can't do any of these — or don't want to — you also can use the Power Plate. This is a great way to torque your bones and keep them strong. You can get more information about Power Plate by calling 888-479-4165. Make sure you mention the code NI-1214 when you call for a special price.
Finally, you also need to give your bones proper nutritional support. This starts with a diet high in veggies and good protein. But you also can take a bone formula such as Ultimate Bone Support. Doing all of this can help keep your bones strong (and your muscles) and help you avoid diabetes and other health problems.
