You probably already know that magnesium is great for your muscles. It helps tight muscles relax. It makes your heart (a muscle) work better. And it reduces pain in sore muscles.
But there’s a simple way to make magnesium work even better. In fact, it can even work in cases of chronic, severe, and debilitating muscle pain.
Research gynecologist and endocrinologist Guy E. Abraham, MD discovered this simple magnesium boost.
He designed a randomized double-blind study that the University of Texas School of Medicine conducted on patients with chronic muscle pain. In the study, researchers gave magnesium plus malic acid to half the patients … and a placebo to the other half.
Result: The combination of malic acid with magnesium reduced both pain and tenderness without any side effects.
Today, you can find supplements with both magnesium and malic acid online. Most brands will contain similar ingredients to those used in the study.
Look for products with excellent reviews. And, if you have a specific muscle problem, look for reviews from people with a similar problem. You’ll have better success with those products.
While I don’t find that it works every time, I have used it successfully with many patients. It’s the first supplement I turn to for muscle pain because it’s such a simple step to take.
