If you’re like me, you love to eat carbs. But you hate stepping on the scale the next morning after eating those carbs.
What if I told you there was a way to eat a few carbs with your meals and not gain weight? Would you be interested?
When I heard about a study that suggests there’s a way to do just that, you can bet I wanted to know more.
This study comes out of Israel, where olive trees are common. We’ve known for years that the leaves from olive trees contain nutrients that have the ability to lower blood sugar.
So, in this study, the researchers gave a 500 mg tablet of olive leaf extract to men and women with blood sugar and insulin issues.
They found that the extract significantly lowered their A1c levels. That means their bodies were controlling their blood sugar much better. And it did this without any changes to their diets.
They also had lower fasting insulin levels when they woke up in the morning.
But there’s more – and this is where it gets interesting for weight loss.
They also found that olive leaf extract significantly reduced the body’s ability to digest and absorb carbohydrate starches.
That’s a huge discovery! If olive leaf extract has the ability to limit how much carbohydrate your body absorbs, then it can help you lose weight, keep your blood sugar low, and, as a result, keep your insulin levels lower.
Of course, that doesn’t mean you can overindulge in carbs and expect the olive leaf extract to miraculously cause you to lose weight.
But it does mean you can eat a few carbs with a healthy meal and significantly reduce the impact those carbs have on your body.
What You Can Do
If you want to lose weight, I suggest taking 250 mg of olive leaf extract before each meal. That will help limit the absorption of the carbs you eat.
If you don’t have a weight problem, but still want to reduce blood sugar and insulin problems, I suggest taking 500-750 mg of olive leaf extract before bed.
During the night, your liver converts fat into sugar. Then it releases that sugar into your blood.
This forces the pancreas to increase the insulin levels in your body so the cells can use that sugar. Olive leaf extract actually causes the liver to decrease its sugar production, lowering your blood sugar and insulin levels.
You’ll wake up feeling much better in the morning.
