Simple ways to avoid bee stings

The summer season is here – and so are the bees.

But you can avoid getting stung while still enjoying the outdoors.

Here’s all you need to do.

First, don’t eat bananas before you go outside. Bananas sweeten the smell of your blood and actually make you smell like another queen bee. This aroma makes the bees aggressive.

Other high glycemic fruits, such as melons and pineapple will make your blood smell sweet as well. This smell can attract the bees but won’t make them aggressive like bananas will.

Second, don’t use any repellants, hand soaps, or body washes with lemongrass in it. The smell will attract the bees.

Third, don’t wear bright colors. The colors white, yellow, blue, and purple will attract the bees. So will some perfumes and hair sprays.

Finally, bees hate cinnamon and peppermint and will avoid you if you’ve eaten one of them recently. They also don’t like lavender oil, citronella oil, olive oil, and vegetable oil.

You can put a little essential oil on your skin or clothes to repel them. Olive oil and vegetable oil make excellent carrier oils to dilute essential oils if they burn your skin.

If bees start to move around you, remain calm, move slowly away from them, and hold your breath until you are away from them. Your breath is a primary attractant for bees. So if you know you’re going to be around bees, keep a peppermint breath mint in your mouth.
