On Saturday, I showed you why painkillers are rapidly becoming one of the most prescribed drugs for Alzheimer’s patients. And I also showed you how turmeric can treat pain just as well as these painkillers and it’s a safer alternative for Alzheimer’s patients. What’s really great about turmeric, though, is that it doesn’t just treat pain. A new study says it can treat the Alzheimer’s as well.
Researchers from Linkoping University in Sweden treated fruit flies with turmeric. The flies had a nervous disorder that’s similar to Alzheimer’s. The researchers divided the flies into five different groups according to various genetic manipulations. Then they gave half of them curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric).
The flies lived up to 75% longer and maintained their mobility longer than the flies that did not take the curcumin. The researchers said their study shows that turmeric might prevent, slow, and possibly even reverse Alzheimer’s.
What’s really exciting, though, is that there’s a form of turmeric that’s more effective than the form used in this research. You see, your body doesn’t absorb curcumin very easily. It breaks down too fast, so your body doesn’t get the full benefit of what you take.

However, my friend Nan Kathryn Fuchs, PhD, editor of Women’s Health Letter, found a company in Italy that has solved curcumin’s absorption problem. Scientists at Indena bound curcumin to soy phosphatidyl choline, which is well absorbed.
According to Dr. Fuchs, “This simple modification super-charged curcumin by greatly increasing its bioavailability. The result is a curcumin product that’s substantially stronger than turmeric or curcumin alone! This patented substance is called Meriva®.
“Just how much better is Meriva? In a randomized, double blind, crossover study — the gold standard of tests — researchers gave participants either Meriva or a mixture of curcuminoids. Meriva had an overall absorption 29 times better than the curcumin mixture and 50 to 60 times stronger than two of its individual curcuminoids.
“There’s simply no form of turmeric that comes close to being as strong and bioavailable as Meriva.”
That means you can now treat Alzheimer’s and pain with a turmeric product that’s 29 times better absorbed than the traditional forms. We’re still waiting for more studies to prove Meriva’s effectiveness on Alzheimer’s, but why wait? It’s perfectly safe at high doses. And it could stop both your pain and your memory loss. What’s more, Meriva is readily available in Reduloxin by Advanced Bionutritionals. If you try it, let me know how it works for you.
