Does this nutrient clear blood clots as well as natto?

If you’re looking to avoid blood clots and a potential heart attack or stroke, few nutrients can hold a candle to nattokinase. I’ve told you in the past about how this powerful fermented soy supplement dissolves the fibrin in your blood. Fibrin is what sticks together to cause the clots. However, after I wrote about natto, one subscriber, Trudy L., wrote in to tell me she thinks there’s another supplement that works just as well.  Here’s what Trudy had to say: “I hope that sometime you will also write an article about the protein digesting enzyme bromelain. Bromelain is the reason I have not so far tried nattokinase--because bromelain does everything claimed for nattokinase and more. Like natto, bromelain dissolves clots, plaque, and fibrin/fibrinogen. Bromelain is also a safer, faster-acting alternative to Coumadin and lisinopril, without the side effects. And it lets you eat the healthy foods that Coumadin forbids.

But you’re not, there’s a simple trick you can use that can stop the cold in its tracks. As soon as I felt the symptoms coming on, I went to the cupboard and pulled out the raw apple cider vinegar and raw local honey. I took one teaspoon of the honey, mixed it with a tablespoon of the vinegar, and then added a little bit (about 3-4 oz.) of warm water to dissolve the honey and dilute the taste of the vinegar. Then I drank it up and repeated it a few hours later.

Are your stomach problems increasing your risk of breast cancer?

Two weeks ago, I showed you how stomach problems can significantly increase your risk for hypothyroidism. But this isn’t the only illness stomach problems can cause. Growing evidence suggests that severe gastrointestinal illnesses can increase your risk of cancer, especially breast cancer in women. Ece Mutlu, MD, a gastroenterologist at the Chicago-based Rush University Medical Centre, sees a connection between the bacteria in your gut and breast cancer. Dr. Mutlu is currently researching this connection. While there aren’t any studies making this direct connection yet, she says there is a lot of indirect evidence.
