Another powerful way to prevent falls and keep muscles strong

I do a lot of work with seniors. One of my favorites is a young 87-year-old woman who suffers from spinal stenosis and congestive heart failure. Other than these challenges, she’s on top of things. She reads all of her mail, including the junk mail, donates large sums to charity, and has a quick-witted sense of humor. But recently, she had to spend weeks in the hospital and a rehab facility because she fell backward. The fall left a huge goose egg on her head. But even worse, it broke a bone in her back. How vitamin D prevents heart attacks

Did you know that a vitamin D deficiency can increase your risk of having a heart attack by 200%? This was the discovery of a Harvard study back in 2008. On Monday, I showed you another study that said optimal vitamin D levels lower your risk of dying from a heart attack by 80%.  Do your joints hurt? Is your back giving you problems? If so, you may have noticed your head hurts more often as well. At least that’s what a new report says can happen when you treat your aches and pains with painkillers.  The United Kingdom’s National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence's (NICE) revealed this shocking news in its first guidelines for treating headaches. The leader of the NICE report, Professor Martin Underwood, from Warwick Medical School, said: “This can end up getting into a vicious cycle where your headache gets worse, so you take more painkillers, so your headache gets worse and this just becomes worse and worse and worse.”
